TRAM-ness

In the future Melbourne project, I'm making the Trams that are meant to be dangerous drag racers. The trams drivers like to race each other, so the passengers have to hang on for dear life.
At the moment, my trams are starting to look like normal trams but I will add more textures to suggest they are racers of sorts. Here's a picture of my current progress..

TRAM TRAM TRAMSS!!!!

As part of the class project i have been assigned to the making of the Drag racing Trams. so far i have drawn up basic concepts of the trams and will upload them here shortly.
Basically the trams are the same Melbourne Trams as we have today however they have bits added on similar to modified cars such as the Neon glow lights underneath, many exhausts at the back, just really done up trams!

Futuristic Melbourne Story!!

Dear Tom,
I've just settled in my Games development course at the Barron Bon Von Evil's University of Evil. The view from the 16th floor is GREAT! you can make out the Giant mechanical squid that lives in the Yarra.
You know the one right? it attacked you last week and you almost had to have your left arm removed due to mutation.
The trams here are very good in my opinion, however despite them being good they scare the living daylights out of me! the speeds they travel at are immense!
I thought i heard the screeching brakes while it was turning a corner but instead it was the rusty wheels trying to keep up with the orders of the tram driver tell them to go FASTER!!
Once off the trams i have to run to the University doors because of those stupid robots that try an sell you stuff! If u don't do as they say and give them some money then your screwed! So be sure to watch out for them.
Hope all is well with your investigation, i'll see ya next week sometime. Take care.
- Jack

To Jack,
Good to hear your settling in with your course.
You better put me in one of your games that you make ha ha.
Yeh, i remember that giant Squid alright. The department here is devising a plan to kill it but killing a Giant robot squid that lives in a mutant polluted river isn't easy you know.
As for my investigations i can't tell you too much as it's very top secret stuff. However I can tell you that the Ninjas im hunting are proven to be from Sydney, and take refuge on top of the sky scrappers in your area. So i may see you sooner then you think.
If that black cloud that blocks off all light was gone then our units could send in a helicopter to take em out but sadly thats not the case.
Well i best be going now. Cya Soon man!

Bullet for the gun

After creating the the gun model and adding the script i then had to make the "bullet".
i made a basic sphere and stretched it out, then applied a shiny metallic texture to it,
the only problem i encounted when making the bullet was knowing which way it would shoot out of the gun, so when it came time to shoot the bullet. It shot out side ways instead of straight/head on.
But it shoots all the same so i'm quite happy with it

Gun Scripts

In Class we were given a gun script and had the challenge of creating a gun and a bullet to shoot out of the gun, i made a very simple hand gun using a tube and a box of sorts.

Rotating script

In class we were given a Script that would make objects rotate on the Y axis i think it was..
1st up i used Joel's idea and made a cap with the little propeller on top. Then after that i started working on my own hover craft of sorts, it didn't turn out as good as i had hoped. But it was good to experiment with the Scripts and the building tools.

Putting a picture in SL

I uploaded the picture i took of myself into Second life and textured a box with it. By doing this i learnt how to texture objects in second life.

SL self and real self

Today in class we took pictures of our selves and also took a screen shot of our second life avatar.

In second life, my avatar is seen wearing a Vic Uni shirt and myself am wearing normal casual clothing.
The avatar can change its appearance of not only in clothing wise but its hair and facial features. by doing this you can make your avatar look however u want.

More SL Modeling

Made a quick jail cell in Second Life, no textures used tho.

Here is the basic size of the building, and u can see a little inside the cell

Here is the sink and small toilet/bucket thing.
not the most hygienic place to be

And here is the table thats in the middle of the cell. Not too much detail towards the table.

exploration

Today in class we ventured out to get an idea of what structures are possible to create in Second Life.

Here is a medieval castle that was constructed quite well, although it was not very big and there was not too much areas to explore.
The concept over all looked pretty good but could be improved.

This toon world had a very fun feel to it with its many colours and attractions.
In this screen shot we see mario's castle. Other areas included in the world included smurfs, sonic characters and other cartoon based characters.

This is the Sector 7 base from the new movie Transformers.
The detail is not very good but the over all concept and layout looks very accurate.
In the screen shot we see Megatron aka NB1 frozen in place

Here we see the basketball ring i made using the tools in second life

Second life

Today in Class (19/7/07)
we made our second life characters and got the feel of walking around as characters and how the program/game works
